The thoughtful learner
The Thoughtful Learner is a set of resources for the KS2 classroom. The aim in writing these materials was to bring meta-cognitive skills within easy reach of the busy teacher. We believe that successful learners have a natural ability to speak the language of learning: ‘learnish’. More importantly we believe that this ability can be taught to those of us not naturally fluent!
Pulling together pedagogy and psychology, after a good look at the work already done by thinkers such as Guy Claxton, we wrote a story to illustrate ten meta-cognitive skills such as Questioning, Managing Distractions, Reasoning, Imaginging, and we put this story together with ten lessonplans.
